Kathy,
I got to know your dad, after Joanne and I were married, Pauline too. My parents were gone already and yours were of the same age as them and so similar as to be startling for me
I think I bought five cars from Jack and they were each as solid as if they were new. I can only imagine the network of friends and family that he had to be as successful as he was. All built on trust and honesty.
A few years pass and I'm invited to one of Fr. Sullivan's lunches where he brought alumni of Seattle U together so that he could guide and shape things going on and guess who was there...Jack. I'm totally full of myself for just being invited, while your Dad at that point had been to hundreds of these and knew that the proper response was volunteering, working and being humble. He tried to help me understand and recognized that I was young and stupid, another act of charity on his part.
I have not seen Jack in some time and it troubles me that I have not and I'm deeply sorry that I did not at least call.
Your Dad and Mom were beacons and credits to your family and St. Anne's and the city. Please accept my condolenses for your loss and extend my thoughts and prayers to your Mom and Joe and Paul. What a life and what a man.
Love,
P

To Pauline, Tim and family, I am saddened to read of Jack's passing. It was obvious when I worked with you how well-loved he was in your family. It is a measure of his goodness how much he will be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

So sorry to read of Jack's death this morning. Last I saw him was at Pete's (Francis Peterman's) funeral several years ago. May the presence and memories of your big family comfort you. You are in my prayers. Katie (Kildall) Bucy
