Obituary of Michael Chris Kiely

Mike Kiely, age 73, of Sumner, WA peacefully passed away on January 27th, 2024 surrounded by loved ones, after a battle with cancer.

Mike was born on September 17, 1950 to Ronald and Dorothy Kiely in Loves Park, Illinois. After graduating from Ranum High School in Denver, Colorado, Mike joined the Navy and served as a naval machinist on the USS Bryce Canyon out of Pearl Harbor. Mike served a full term and was honorably discharged. He carried his machining and diagnostic knowledge into the private sector, specializing in repairing and maintaining engines of all types. In his later career, he split his time between management at a large-scale manufacturing facility and teaching at Renton Technical College.

In 1968, Mike met Jan Lindsey in Denver, Colorado and they were married in 1970. Mike and Jan went on to have 2 children, Chris and Tina. They lived happily in Sumner for 38 years. 

Mike retired in 2008 after 35 years in the industry. While retired, Mike had more time to pursue his love of rock hounding, classic cars, fishing, boating, and oil painting. He always prioritized spending time with his family. Mike was actively involved in church leadership throughout his life, dedicating himself to the service of others. His easy grin, keen insight, and unconditional love will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Mike was predeceased by his mother Dorothy and father Ron. He is survived by his wife Jan Kiely, his son Chris Kiely, his daughter Tina Schroeder (Greg), his beloved Grandson Ian Schroeder, his brother Randy Kiely and sisters Linda Jones and Pat Chapdelaine.
