Obituary of Rose Marie Anderson

Rose Marie (Lussier) Anderson sadly left us and joined her husband, Phillip W. Anderson, on January 8, 2024. She is survived by her son Randy Tayon, her daughter Kathy (Tayon) Sharley, granddaughters Danielle and Andreya Pro, and her step-daughter Trish (Anderson) Drollinger (Mark) and granddaughter Morgan Swarthout (Thyron), as well as her Brothers - Robert Lussier (Carolyn), Dennis Lussier (Jan), and Donald Lussier.

Rose was welcomed into the world by her parents Walter and Esta (Fleming) Lussier. Both of her parents, brother Joseph Lussier, and step-son Philip (Don) Anderson preceded her in death.

She grew up in Grandview, Washington on her family's Hop farm; having her grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins (the Charvet, Dion, and Fleming families) living nearby.

She graduated from Grandview High School in 1959 and was a member of Pep Club, Library Club and G.A.A. She was also actively involved in planning their class reunions over the years.

She married Joe Tayon after graduation and moved to Maine where he was stationed in the Air Force. Her daughter Kathy was born there before they returned to Washington and settled in Yakima where her son Randy was born.

While living in Yakima, she attended beauty school. She enjoyed being a hairdresser and had many long term customers. She owned her Salon in Grandview for over 40 years until she retired at the age of 78.

She was a founding member and remained active with Soroptimist International - Lower Yakima Valley chapter, which is a volunteer women’s organization that improves the lives of women and girls through programs leading to social and economic empowerment.

She was an avid reader her entire life. She worked in the Grandview Public library in her teens and later became a member of the Friends of Grandview Library.

She enjoyed gardening and had a beautiful yard where she hosted many family reunions.

Rose had an adventurous spirit. Most recently, she took a Helicopter tour around the island of Hawaii - which included hovering directly over the mouth of the active Volcano then following the lava flow to watch it spill into the ocean, and spent a day snorkeling off the Kona coast with her granddaughters. She also went zip-lining in Whistler BC with her granddaughters when she was 75!

She loved the Northwest, with the Oregon coast being one of her favorite destinations. She also enjoyed the mountains and visited Leavenworth and Mount Rainier National Park often.

Rose will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, friendship, sense of humor, and as a loving wife, daughter, sister, and Mom.

A celebration of life will be held in Grandview in her honor at a date to be announced this Spring.
