Obituary of Daniel C. Stickney

Daniel C. Stickney, “Dan” beloved husband, father, son, brother, friend passed away suddenly from injuries sustained from a fall in Kirkland, WA on July 28th.

He was born September 11, 1960 in Missoula, MT to Peter & Suzann Stickney. He was the middle of three children (brother Mike & sister Diana). He was raised up the Rattlesnake and attended Hellgate High School.

Dan graduated from Montana State University with two degrees one in Construction Engineering Technology and the other in Civil Engineering.

He worked for Morrison Knudsen Co for over twenty years. During that time he worked on several world class projects including: I-80 Widening, Auburn, CA; Rocky Mountain Pump Storage, Rome, GA; Confederation Bridge, PEI, Canada; E-470 Toll Road, Denver, CO; San Roque Dam, San Manuel, Philippines, Olmstead Dam, Olmstead, IL.

After leaving MK he worked for several local construction companies and ended his career with a consulting partnership SGX. Some of his interesting projects during this time were: Springfield Fish Hatchery, ID; Allison Creek Hydro, Valdez, AK; Temporary School Project, St. Croix, USVI.

Dan was always willing to lend a hand to help people fix or repair something. He always made time.

His interests included white water rafting, skiing, bonfires, drinking beer, weeding, spending time in McCall, road tripping and most recently milling lumber.

Survivors include his wife of 31 years & 11 months Michelle, his two wonderful daughters that brought him so much joy Emily (Brett) of San Antonio, TX, Jessica Tolman-Stickney (Tom) of Rapid City, SD, Father Peter of Missoula MT, Brother Mike (Debbie) of Butte, MT, sister Diana Wood (Mark) of Victor, MT, and Niece Sarah Henning (Josh & Junia) of Seattle, WA.

In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to MK Nature Center, Boise, ID or your local Hospice Facility.
