Kenneth Lee Woolery completed his life’s mission and returned to his Heavenly Home on June 27, 2023. He was 81. Ken was born on January 11, 1942 to Archie and Neva Woolery, in the small town of Sumner. He attended the Sumner schools, graduating in 1960. After graduation, Ken joined the Army and served for many years. He gained an education in office management which he utilized in his career with Boeing.
Ken had many loves and interests including; Orchids and gardening, fishing, hiking and dogs. He belonged to the Orchid Society, worked on the “Rails to Trails” projects, was an active community member volunteering for many positions to better his small town of Sumner, represented many causes at the Puyallup Fair, loved to go fishing with his brother Aaron and loved animals. His last 2 dogs, Amulek and Oliver brought him great joy.
Ken had a strong faith in his Heavenly Father and his Savior Jesus Christ. He became a member of “The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints” where he fulfilled many callings. He loved working with the scouts and would always be willing to lend a hand where needed. Ken brought much joy to those around him, sharing his sense of humor and tales from his past to lighten someone’s day. Though he was a bit shy, he loved the feeling of sharing his testimony of the gospel and especially the Lord’s Plan.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents Archie and Neva Woolery and brother David. He is survived by his brother Aaron whom he considered a lifelong friend. Services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, located at 512 Valley Ave. Sumner, Washington, on July 13, beginning with a viewing at 10:30 and the funeral following at 11. Burial will be held at the Sumner Cemetery on the 14th.
