Obituary of Ann Mary Hunter

Ann Mary Hunter, 63, of Eatonville, Washington, passed away from this life into the presence of her Lord and her Savior Jesus Christ at home on May 24, 2023, from cancer. Ann was born on December 9, 1959, to Paul and Delores Noble in Albany, Oregon. She came to faith in Christ and grew in her knowledge and love of Him as a child and young adult at Faith Lutheran Church in Albany. During her high school years, Ann was active in music and played flute and piano for school, church, and musicals at the Albany Civic Theater. During the summers, she worked at a nursing home and frozen foods plant to earn money for college. After Ann graduated from West Albany High School in 1978, she pursued a degree in sociology and psychology with an emphasis on geriatrics at Pacific Lutheran University (PLU).

In 1980, she met Jason Hunter at PLU through mutual friends. Ann and Jason were married on July 24, 1982, and celebrated their 40th anniversary last summer. They were blessed with six children: Daniel, Rachel, Philip, Clarice, Caleb, and Kirsten. Ann chose to be a homemaker once Daniel was born, although for 20 years, she played piano for the Eatonville High School choir and was the rehearsal and performance pianist for many of the musicals performed at the high school.

When personal computers first started becoming popular in the 90’s, Ann actively involved herself in learning about computer hardware, software, and games, foreseeing that it was a skill that would help her stay connected to her children and her children’s friends. Until she became too sick to play, Ann was involved in the lives of many gamers who were decades younger than her and was a mom/grandma figure to many of them. Because of her computer skill set and her wisdom, she was highly sought after as a game moderator by several game developers. Besides loving to dote on her children and grandchildren, Ann was also an avid scrapbooker, made hundreds of handmade cards, and was a marvelous cook and seamstress. She was a member of Eatonville Baptist Church for 40 years and was active playing piano for worship services and, for many years, filling the role of Sunday School superintendent.

Ann was predeceased by both parents, her older brother Craig, and her younger sister Amy Toumi (Ralph). She is survived by her younger brother David, husband Jason, children: Daniel, Rachel Schubkegel (Nathan), Philip (Jamie), Clarice Engel (Jeff), Caleb, and Kirsten, and her six grandchildren: Nicola, Alaric and Emmie Schubkegel, and Kaia, Soren, and Adeline Hunter.

Services will be held at Eatonville Baptist Church (415 Lytle Lane S, Eatonville, WA) on Saturday, July 22, 2023, at 2:00 p.m.
