Obituary of Dana Lynn Schafer

Dana Lynn Schafer, age 72, was born October 18, 1950 and passed March 14, 2023

Dana was born in Tacoma WA to Cliff and Bonnie Becklund.

Dana LOVED to be with and help people.  And people LOVED to be with and be helped by her!  There are countless stories and endless tales of the way Dana touched people’s lives… throughout her life.  “Hotlines” that rang her home phone… family who needed a little “lift”… relatives and friends who needed a place to stay (short and long term)… and strangers who had no place to go.  She ALWAYS helped them.

Dana LOVED to cook… she LOVED to entertain.  She WAS the life of the party (and probably the planner of it too).  The annual Christmas tradition of making the Swedish bread called Hard Tack was one of her favorite days of the year!  A tradition still carried on by her family!

Dana was a story teller.  The stories…. Oh the stories!!!  Funny, sad, heartfelt, genuine but always classic.  She LOVED to tell a good story.

Dana was a stay at home Mom early on.  Then she worked many jobs including the Puyallup Fair, Sears and Weyerhaeuser where she spent most of her professional career and eventually retired.  This is where she made so many friends of a lifetime over the years.  She LOVED working in that Tech Center.

Dana is survived by her husband Carllee Schafer, her two sons Jeff Schafer and Jayson Schafer, her granddaughter Susannah Schafer, her Grandson TJ Schafer, her Great Grandson Zyaire Evans-Barnwell, her brother and his wife Steve and Julie Becklund, her brother Donald Becklund, her step-brothers Tim, Tom and Terry Backbrom, and so many nieces, nephews, cousins and family members (and “family” members you know who you are) who LOVED Dana so so much and who she touched and effected in so many important ways.

Mom, Sister, Cousin, Aunt, Grandma, Great Grandma, Mrs. Schafer, Saint, Savior, Confidante, or whatever title she was given at any particular moment… she will be missed so much.

Dana LOVED YOU!

Dana will be laid to rest at the Mineral Cemetery in Mineral WA
