Obituary of John Sampson Bishop

John Sampson Bishop, born February 6, 1929, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2022, at the age of 93.

Born in Meeker Oklahoma, John grew up in Buckley Washington attending Buckley High School where he met the love of his life and future wife. After graduating he joined the US Army serving in the Korean War. Post-military, John remained a proud veteran who went on to spend 35 years working for Rhine Demolition as a truck driver and diesel mechanic before retiring.

At home John was a jack of all trades who enjoyed tinkering on cars, hunting, fishing, and rooting for the Mariners or Seahawks. You could find him working in his garden and always keeping himself busy. 

John’s greatest joy in life was his family. He loved being a husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, never missing a moment to spend with them. 

Preceded in death by: parents Charles and Matilda Bishop; 3 brothers, 2 sisters and grandson Mitchell Gran.

Survived by:  Janice Bishop, Wife of 70 years; daughters Joani (Tony), Kathey (Merle) and Lisa (Greg); grandchildren; Rebecca (Josh), John David (Jen), Zach (Corrine), Ami and Nick, great grandchildren; Madison, Jacob, Morgan, Lucas, Elise and Larson, sisters Doris and Nancy and many nieces and nephews.

John will be remembered as a kind, supportive, loving, hardworking, and dedicated man who always had a smile on his face and his family in mind. 

A celebration of life will be held at the family home on October 22, 2022.
