Obituary of Doris Selden

Doris Selden , 77, passed away on Wednesday , September 8, 2021 in Puyallup, WA.  She was born on February 22, 1944 in  Riceboro , Georgia; the daughter of John and Viola Robert’s.  On June 26, 1964, at age 22, she married Thomas Nathaniel Selden JR in Brooklyn, NY. Thomas & Doris had three kids - Thomas Selden III, Vanessa Selden-McClendon, & Randall Selden. Doris held a Masters Degree in Education. Doris Selden was a teacher for DODDS (military school system ) and public schools for 30 years. Doris retired from teaching in 2009.  She enjoyed watching court shows and reality shows. Most of all , she cherished spending time with her family and friends.  Doris brought joy and laughter to all those who knew her. Doris had a strong spirit and was a great example of strength and sacrifice  in every part of her life.

Celebration of life & Private services will be held at a later date.

Doris  was a fountain of love, joy, goodwill and humor & will be deeply missed by all who were lucky enough to know her.

Doris is survived by her husband Thomas Selden JR ; daughter Vanessa (Gerald) McClendon, two sons Thomas (Candace) Selden, III, and Randall Selden; five grandchildren: Mia Selden, Marcus McClendon and triplets Jenner, Jackson and Sydney Selden; mother Viola Roberts; siblings Juanita Jackson, Estellia Underwood and Patricia Jenkins of Brooklyn, NY; Jannie Lewis of Stockbridge, GA; Christine (Otis) Pease and Gloria Singleton of Queens, NY; Louise Beach of Los Angeles, CA; and brother John (Gloria) Roberts of Riceboro, GA; aunts Juanita Roberts of Brooklyn, NY, and Everlena Brown of Riceboro, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
