Donna Rush

Obituary of Donna Rush

“I came that you may have life and have it more abundantly!”  John 10:10

Donna Morton Rush met her Heavenly Father on Sunday August 1 after a short battle with esophageal cancer.  She was born in Butte Montana on May 10, 1932, to Raymond and Dorothy Morton. Butte is where Donna discovered her love of snow!  The family moved to Tacoma when Donna was 11.  She attended Sacred Heart Grade School and St Leo’s High School, where she enjoyed singing in the Francellians.  She married Frank in 1950 and they raised 6 children on Trout Lake in south King County.  During those busy years, Donna was active at All Saints Catholic Church and School in Puyallup.  Carpools, Altar Society, church banquets and all manner of participation kept her life very full. Once the children were grown, she and Frank sold their family home on Trout Lake and built their retirement home in Puyallup valley where they could walk to church, walk to the fair, and walk over to watch Puyallup High play football.   They lived there for 27 years.  By then she had become Grandma to 19 grandchildren whom she showered with love. She loved sewing for them and hosting them for overnights.  In 2013 she and Frank moved to Federal Way and enjoyed many happy years at Brookdale Foundation House.  After Frank died last summer, Donna moved to Sumner to be cared for by her daughter.  She will be mightily missed by her family!

Donna is survived by her children, Judy (Kevin) Heid of Spokane; Debra Mayer of Federal Way, Carla (Steve) Lawson of Fife, Cynda (Jerry) Mack of Puyallup, Martha (Ron) Whelan of Sumner, and Larry Rush of Puyallup.

A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday August 20th at 2pm at St Vincent’s de Paul Catholic Church in Federal Way.
