Donald W. Casteel

(Don)

Don was born July 24, 1926 in Tacoma, Washington.  He passed away on November 8, 2020 at Franciscan Hospice House in University Place, Washington of complications of COPD and a broken hip.  Dad enjoyed singing, dancing, playing poker, golfing and going to Westport salmon fishing.  He and Mom always enjoyed their September trips to Reno and Lake Tahoe.

Dad was a bread driver for Sunbeam, Jordan’s Langendorf and Gais for 30 years.  He is preceeded in death by his wife, Kay Casteel; his parents Cass and Ella Casteel; his sister Ruth Rupe and twin sister Dorothy Carter.  He leaves behind his children; Susan (Lou), Mark (Karen), and Joni (Rick).  Six grandchildren, six great grandchildren and two special nephews, Brad and David Carter.

A viewing will be held on Tuesday, November 24, 2020 from 3pm to 6pm  at Curnow Funeral Home in Sumner, WA.  Funeral services with military honors will be held Monday, November 30, 2020 at 1pm at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, WA.  Don joined the Navy at  17 and was stationed at Tuguchi Harbor in  Okinawa, Japan where he served on PT Boats.  He was a WWII Veteran.
