We were saddened to hear of Gene's passing. Gene was my first cousin, our birthdays were only seven days apart. Our mothers were sisters, raised in North Dakota, and were very close. Gene and I visited often , and had many fun times as kids, until Gene and his parents moved to Spokane, WA when we were teenagers. Ten years later, when I moved to Richland, WA, Gene was in the Army, stationed at Camp Hanford, just north of Richland, and again we enjoyed visiting. We went different ways after that, but twenty years later we were both back in Washington, married with children, and since then have had many enjoyable visits, including family gatherings in Richland and Spokane, and also in Arizona with the Hannesson cousins. Gene was always so much fun to be with, loved joking, always happy. He was a terrific cousin, and we will miss him.
