Obituary of Ella Gertrude Ellison

Born May 16,1908 in Anoka, Minnesota and passed away March 25, 2020 in Puyallup, Washington at age 111 years and 313 days.

Preceded in death by her husband Roy E. Ellison, parents Richard G. Parrott and Henrietta (Searl) Parrott, 5 sisters, 3 brothers and her son Wilton D. Ellison.

Survived by sons Dr. Russell E. Ellison(Lanita), Burton S. Ellison (Christine), and grandchildren Karla Ayala(Richard), Aaron Ellison(Murielle), Matthew Ellison(Jennifer), Jennifer Boggs(Matthew), Brian Ellison, Brenda Ellison Bottorff, Curtis Bartkowski( Heather), Gretchen Neuert (Greg). Great grandchildren Ricky Ayala, Mariella Ayala, Rochelle Ellison, Vianay Ellison, Blake Ellison, Milo Ellison, Maile Bottorff, Mia Bottorff, Oliver Bartkowski, Levi Bartkowski, Joanna Neuert, Elijah Neuert, Samuel Neuert, Uriah Neuert, Simeon Neuert, and many nieces and nephews.

Ella Gertrude (Sis) grew up in Pollock, South Dakota and graduated from Pollock High School in 1926. She then graduated from Normal school in Ellendale, North Dakota in 1928 and taught 9 years in rural schools in North and South Dakota. In 1937 she moved with her family to Washington State. After raising her family she earned Bachelor of Arts degree from Pacific Lutheran University and taught for 14 years in the Sumner Washington School District.

She was a member of the congregation of Faith Covenant Church (previously Sumner Presbyterian Church) for 67 years. Member of Order of Eastern Star since 1929 and served as Worthy Matron of Guiding Star Chapter #99 of Sumner Washington and was an active participant in various activities in the area.

A public memorial service will be held August 31, 2021  3:00pm at Faith Covenant Church, 1915 Washington Street, Sumner,WA.
