Obituary of Eric Lee Stickley

Eric L. Stickley, 33, passed away April 03, 2020, at Tacoma General Hospital. He was born April 22, 1986, in Puyallup, WA, the son of Roy L. and Laurinda M. (Horstman) Stickley.

Eric received his GED in 2003 to serve in the U.S. Army. He was stationed at Fort Stewart, GA before being deployed to Iraq for Operation Iraqi Freedom III. He was awarded with an Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, and Combat Action Badge. Eric enjoyed playing video games, sports, working out, listening to music, drawing, bowling, being outdoors, and spending time with friends and family. Although he struggled with PTSD and substance use disorder following his wartime service, he remained being ever so selfless and unconditionally loving towards all. He had a great sense of humor and imagination. He will never be forgotten. “Your life was a blessing, your memory a treasure, you are loved beyond words, and missed beyond measure.”

Eric was predeceased by his mother Laurinda Horstman, grandfather Virgil Stickley, and grandmother Laurene Horstman. He is survived by wife Maria (Sandoval) Stickley, daughter Amiah Stickley, father Roy Stickley, sister Amber Stickley, sister Amanda Stickley, grandmother Esther (Stickley) Steele, grandfather Allen Horstman, and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A celebration of life will be planned for a future date.
