Sally,
Hopefully you see this. This is Elly's daughter. I wasn't aware that Helen had passed away. I'm truly sorry for your loss. Hopefully we'll cross paths again someday.

As I remember both Helen and Jonas, I can still learn from them and live a little fuller life. I've read lots of novels that had much less interesting characters.

Mrs. Asplund will be missed. I will always remember sweetness while in High School and for all her help at the Ohop Grange. We were honored to have her as long as we did.
My Condolences.

Miss Gordon, as I fondly remember her, was a delightful little lady and an excellent teacher. Graduates of EHS in my day were well-prepared to write and speak, in large measure because of Miss Gordon. And I came to know her as Helen and to enjoy our visits in later years at class reunions. She was a real treasure, and I, too, miss her.

Helen Asplund was a very dedicated, dependable, and determined leader. I am surprised at what some of you so called students are confessing that you did while she was substituting in your classes. As a teacher I only wanted two people to sub for me and that was Helen Asplund and Richard Hermsen. I always got rave reports on the quality of students I had in my Ag classes. I never thought I was that hard to get along with, but when I got back, if you had acted up you were going to have to deal with me. Whatever work I left for the class to accomplish, I knew it would have been assigned, the papers colleted and neatly stacked for me. She loved the Ag program and the students that made it a success. This lady gave her heart and soul to the Eatonville School system and community, to make it what it is today. I feel very privileged to have worked and known Helen and her husband Jonas Asplund during my 12 years in Eatonville. God bless them for all they attempted to do for others. Sincerely, Clarence "Pete" Pearson, Ag Teacher 1962-1974
