Obituary of Alice Mae Dahl

Alice Dahl died peacefully at home Sunday August 22nd, surrounded by her husband Arnie Dahl, two sons Alan and Mark, and daughter-in-law Donna. Alice is also survived by her brother Frank Marshall and wife Jennet of Seattle, WA. Alice was born in Bicknell Indiana to her parents Bert and Adolphine Marshall. Alice graduated from the University of Indiana and the Kroeger School of Music, and was an accomplished pianist. She met Arnie, her future husband and native Tacoman, at the Indiana Roof Ballroom in Indianapolis, while he was stationed at Fort Benjamin Harrison. Alice waited for Arnie while he served 2 years in Korea. During that time, Alice was a personal secretary to a VP at Eli Lilly Pharmaceutical and taught dancing at the Arthur Murray School of Dance. Soon after Arnie returned from Korea, they were married in Tacoma Washington. A few years after their two children were born, Arnie earned an MBA from the University of Washington while Alice worked at SeaFirst bank during the Seattle Worlds Fair. While Arnie worked for the Ford Motor Company, Alice become a full time homemaker, (only working part time). Alice was an excellent mother, always encouraging her children to pursue their dreams. With the children nearly grown, Arnie became the Ford Dealer in Sumner and Alice was the Office Manager. Their business prospered until they retired. In everything she pursued, Alice always strove (and achieved) excellence. She will be missed by all and remembered for her beauty, grace, talent, and inspiring positive attitude. A funeral service followed by a reception will start 10a.m. Tuesday, 8/31 at the Sumner United Methodist Church, 901 Wood Ave Sumner. Interment will take place at 1:15 p.m. at Tahoma National Cemetery. Arrangements by Curnow Funeral Home & Cremation Service. 863-2800.
