Obituary of Amos Wade Chaney

Surrounded by his family, Amos Wade (Buck) Chaney, age 77, of Tacoma, Washington went to be with his Lord and Savior on June 25th, 2010 at Franciscan Hospice House. Wade was born in Fort Collins, Colorado on March 21, 1933 to Benjamin and Rosa (Bay) Chaney. He graduated from Albany High in Oregon and then served in the Army during the Korean War. He married his high school sweetheart, Barbara Faulkner, and they made their home in Tacoma. Wade worked as a sawmill supervisor most of his life. Wade remained active after retirement enjoying fishing with his grandchildren, building wooden crafts, tending to his garden, serving as an elder and participating in the building of an addition to his church, and witnessing as a Gideon. Preceding him in death was his wife of 53 years, Barbara A.Chaney. Surviving him are his son, Douglas Chaney (Cynthia), and his daughter, Jolene Johnson (Daryl). Also surviving are his grandaughters, Tiffany and Lisa Chaney and his grandsons, William Quinby and Cameron Johnson along with his sister, Evelyn Wayenberg, and many loving nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held Thursday July 1, at Sumner Methodist Church, 901 Wood Ave. at 11 a.m. Viewing to be Wednesday 5-8 p.m. at Curnow Funeral Home, 1410 Main St, Sumner. Memorial donations may be made to Franciscan Hospice House in University Place, Washington.
