Obituary of Thomas Samuel Crossett

Thomas Samuel Crossett, Jr. February 7, 1926 ~ April 20, 2010 Surrounded by his family, Dad went to his heavenly home after a short bout with cancer. Thomas (Tom) Crossett is survived by his wife of 54 years Lorraine, and their children, Michael (Signe), David (Tracy), Katherine Montalvo (Roy), and Julie Roupp (Jay) , 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren, his brother Bill, sister Phyllis Allen, numerous nieces, nephews, close friends, and cousins. Tom was born and raised in Bal lard, and although he considered himself a homebody, he managed to quietly amass a life of adven ture and travel. In the 1940's during his time in the Navy, he flew in Alaska and the Aleutians with a transport squadron, as an aviation radio operator. Later, he took his travels to his profession as a rail way mail clerk for the U.S. Postal Service running between Seattle, Spokane, and Portland, finally re tiring closer to home from the Greenwood office in 1984. He en joyed hiking and camping many places as a young man. In his later years he continued tent camping well into his 70's, and enjoyed traveling with Lorraine to Europe, and around the world. His traveling feet were always happiest a ferry ride across Puget Sound to the family cabin on Skunk Bay for a walk on the beach with family and friends. Active in his church and in serving his community, Tom will be missed by the many that enjoyed his "eclectic and eccentric" personality. We have no doubt he's at the gates of heaven helping St. Peter make sure no one has sand on their feet getting in, and asking everyone their name. We love you Dad, you will be missed. Remembrances may be made to University Presbyterian Church. A memorial service is scheduled Thursday May 6th 2:00 pm University Presbyterian Church, 4540 - 15th NE, Seattle.
