Obituary of Katherine Muir Fickes

Born June 15, 1944 in Butte, MT; passed away July 20, 2006 of complications from a stroke, with her loving husband by her side. Kay was a graduate of Queen Anne High School and attended the University of Washington. For the past forty years she was an employee of the Boeing Company. In her free time Kay volunteered and donated to a variety of charitable organizations. She was preceded in death by her father Kenneth in 1976 and mother Katherine in 2005. She is survived by her husband Gerald of Kent, WA; sister Sandi (Keith) Burningham Stewart of Yuma, AZ; brothers Kenneth Burningham of Redmond, WA and Ed (Carolyn) Burningham of Seattle, WA. Other survivors include her sister-in-law Joan Gustin of Rancho Cordova, CA; brother and sister-in-law John and Mary Sue Fickes of Moses Lake, WA. Nieces and nephews include Denise and Lisa Burningham, Samantha Cooper, Jennifer, Andrew and Jon Fickes, Don (Brenda) Gustin and Cheri (Rod) Kitz. Kay and her husband lived in Kent for the past 30 years and were an inseparable team. She loved her job and all her friends at Boeing. She also was a Seahawks and Mariners fan and was an active member of the Seahawkers Booster Club. A memorial service will be held August 3, 2006 at Saint Stephen the Martyr, 13055 S.E. 192nd Street, Renton, WA 98058 at 4:00 PM. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers the family asks that remembrances be made to Washington Women in Need, Bellevue, WA or the Seattle Children’s Hospital and Medical Center, Seattle, WA.
