Obituary of Matthew L. Stanley

Matthew Lee joyously arrived in our arms on June 25th, 1990 in Puyallup, Washington and sadly left them on January 17th, 2010 from Bellingham, Washington. From his years as a counselor at Camp Sealth Matthew earned the nickname "Glow Dances". The name fit so well, as his aura "glowed" ever so brightly. Matthew wanted to change the world and in his short time offered strength, hope, laughter and compassion to all by continually encouraging them to "be proud of who you are and live life to the fullest". He loved music and dance, books, learning and the art of debate as taught to him in high school. Earning his Associates degree from Pierce College by the age of 18 was a proud moment for him. Matt started as a junior in the fall of 2009 at Western Washington University at Bellingham with intent to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Behavioral Neuroscience. Matt's glow has dimmed only slightly, but you can be guaranteed that he is still dancing. Please allow that glow to live on in your hearts and memories with peace and love. Matthew is survived by his father, Jeffrey A. Stanley of Covington, his mother and stepfather Nancy and Michael Moffitt of Puyallup, Grandparents Beverly and John Stanley of Southern California and Jack and Eddys White of Everett, WA. Step brother and sisters, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephew. In lieu of flowers please send a rememberance to: Central Puget Sound Council of Camfire USA, Campership Fund, 4241 21st Ave West, Suite 200, Seattle, WA 98199. A memorial service will be held on Saturday January 30 10 a.m. at the Sumner United Methodist Church, 901 Wood Ave. Sumner.
