Obituary of Sheila Mahoney Haniger

Sheila Mahoney Haniger was born in Chicago, Illinois on December 23, 1936. She passed away, surrounded by family and friends, on January 16, 2010. Sheila was a devoted 1st grade teacher at St. Frances Cabrini Elementary School for 25 years and recently retired five years ago. She touched the lives of hundreds of children and was dedicated to advancing their learning and faith. Sheila's passions were her spirituality and Catholic faith. She enjoyed gardening, exploring the outdoors, cooking, traveling and spending time with her family and wonderful friend, Robert Berrens. We will all miss the memorable trips we took together! Sheila is survived by her sister Michelle Stowell, her five children, Margie Barton, Marianna Haniger, Steven Haniger, Chris Haniger and Susan Navarrete and six grandchildren, Duane, Daniel, Connor, Jacob, Emma and Anna. A funeral mass will be held at St. Frances Cabrini Church in Lakewood WA, on Thursday January 21, at 11:00 a.m. Special thanks to Robert Berrens as well as the caring staff at Franciscan Hospice.
