Obituary of Robert E. Ohlund

On December 29th, Robert (Bob) “went home” at his residence in the presence of his family, after an extended illness. Hospice provided incredible support and care the last four months, and the family will always be grateful. He was born on Queen Ann Hill in Seattle, Wa. but the family moved to a farm in Graham in 1930. He attended Thrift Grade School and Kapowsin High School, graduating in 1946. He served in the Military Sea Transportation Service on troop ships during the Korean War, and was promoted to Chief Electrician. Bob worked as an engineer at American Manufacturing Co. for 33 years. Many months each year he installed assembly lines in factories all over the U.S. as well as Canada and Hong Kong. He was a member of Cascade Lodge Machinist’s Union. Bob was married for 54 years to (Martha) Jane Long. Together they raised four daughters on the farm: Karen Ohlund, Laura (Daniel) Galvan, Diana (Ciro) Grijalva, and Anita (Larry) Tibbitts. The grandchildren are Krista (Eric) Blaxton, Danny Galvan, C.J. Grijalva, Julian Grijalva and Robert Tibbitts plus two great-grandchildren, Rocky and Jasmine Blaxton.
