Obituary of Novelle Dahle Davidson

Novelle Dahle Davidson was born in Tulelake, CA on February 9, 1933 to Norman Grant Dahle and Margaret Adams Dahle. She was the fifth of seven children. Our dear mother Novelle passed away on Thanksgiving Day, November 26, 2009 in Puyallup, WA surrounded by her family. Her parents, three brothers, one sister and her former spouse, Frank Calvin Davidson, preceded her in death. Novelle was raised on a farm in Tulelake, CA and attended school at Stockton Junior College. She later graduated from San Jose State University prior to pursuing her teaching career. Novelle married Frank Calvin Davidson in 1956 before moving to the Pacific NW, where she continued her elementary teaching career. Novelle spent most of her career teaching kindergarten and firmly believed that “All you really need to know you learned in Kindergarten.” Novelle retired in 2001 from the Puyallup School District after nearly 45 years of teaching and inspiring thousands of students. Upon retirement, she continued to teach and inspire others outside the classroom by the way she lived life consistent with her core values. Novelle was honest, kind, loving, compassionate, trustworthy, and a loyal friend to all. Novelle was also musically talented, extremely patriotic and loved her country. Novelle was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she truly enjoyed her church family and friends. Novelle’s greatest joy, however, was found with her four children and six grandchildren. She enjoyed spending time with them and truly believed that relationships with family and friends is most important. Although Novelle has passed away, her legacy will continue forever through her timeless example to others. She took great pride in her posterity and is survived by son Daryl of Philadelphia, PA, daughter Karyl (Joel) Ricks of Puyallup, WA, daughter Trisha (Mark) Spry of Puyallup, WA and son Dwight of New York, NY. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Thomas (Kelly) Ricks, Amie Ricks, Leesa (Kevin) Elkins, Kelli Ricks, Spencer Spry, Michael Spry, sisters Nadine (Ted) Ballard, Luana (John) Samo, and numerous in-laws, nieces, and nephews. A public viewing is scheduled for Friday, December 4th from 4-6 PM at Curnow Funeral Home, 1410 Main Street, Sumner, WA. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 5th at 9:00 AM, LDS Chapel, 8615 176th Street E., Puyallup, WA. A private interment took place at Sumner Cemetery.
