Obituary of Bonnie Jean Scholz

Bonnie passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, 10/25/09. Bonnie was born to G. Lee and Lois Matlock on 9/5/1926 in Baker, Oregon. She graduated from Puyallup High School in 1945 and married Kenneth Scholz on 8/16/1948. She raised 6 boys, while simultaneously working on the family farm. Bonnie was a lifelong resident of the Puyallup valley and a pioneer farmer of beef cattle, berries, potatoes and certified strawberry plants. She was involved with the McMillin Grange, the Soil Conservation Service and the Puyallup Elks Emblem Club. Bonnie enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and spending time at the ocean. She was a collector of elephants and a Christmas village and enjoyed bowling and crocheting and reading. She is preceded in death by her husband of 29 years, Kenneth. She is survived by her children Ron (Suzanne), Keith (Cindee), Larry, Allen (Fawn), Dan (Sherry) and Steve (Becky). 9 grandchildren; Derek, Bridget, Michael, Megan, Candice, Ken, Shanel, Katey and Max and 2 great grandchildren, soon to be 3. 3 siblings, Ruth (Gerry) Perry, Massachusetts, David (Georgia) Matlock, of Puyallup and Ivan (Aurora) Matlock, of Gig Harbor. The family would like to express a very special thank you to Wendy and Jeff Mitchell and the staff at Foothills Adult Family Home in Buckley. A viewing will be held on Monday, 11/2, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Curnow Funeral Home 1410 Main St, Sumner. A Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, 11/3, at 1:00 p.m. at First Christian Church of Sumner, 432 Wood Avenue, with a reception to follow.
