Obituary of Robert J. Bergum

Robert J. Bergum” Bob”; “PaPa”, 83 years 11 months slipped gracefully Into God’s hands Sept. 30, 2009 in Tacoma, WA. He was born in Cottonwood, MN. November 7th 1925, to Hans and Anna Bergurn. Bob was in the Navy during WWII and attended Business College in Minneapolis, MN. upon his return. He was a Food Broker handling Institutional Food Sea-vice Customers until he retired. Bob was a member of Christ The King Lutheran Church, having transferred from Mt Olivet Lutheran in Minneapolis in 1975 when Bob & Lu moved to Puyallup. He was a 55 year member of the Masonic Fraternity, belonged to Corinthian Lodge in Puyailup. Nearly a 50 year member of Eastern Star, being Worthy Patron 3 times, and Several years as Rainbow Dad for the Rainbow Girls in Puyallup. Back in Minn. Bob Was Past High Priest of the Lake Harriet Royal Arch Masons as well as becoming a Shriner with Zurhah Shrine, he transferred to Afifi Shrine when we moved to Wa.. Bob was very active in the Afifi Directors Staff and the Afifi Shrine Yacht Club. He became Commodore of Afifi Shrine Yacht Club In 1997, Bob and his Lady Lu were also active members of the Tacoma Yacht Club for lots of years. They enjoyed being Santa and Mrs Claus for a number of organizations for many years. The Son’s of Norway, East Side for Kids, as well as all the above groups plus neighbors and friends. Robert is survived by his loving wife and constant companion of 60 years Lucille (Lu), “daughter”Patricia Johnson (Edward), Chanhassen, Mn, “grandchildren” Annette Leifennan (Travis), Waconia, MN., Theodore Johnson (Kate) Rio Rancho, New Mexico. Sister, Iona Dhaese Puyallup, Nephew, Dennis Dhaese (Loretta) Bonney Lake, Children Bjorn (Kristin), Puyallup Karen Losk (Brian) Tacoma, Niece, Janet Smith, Puyallup, her son Travis (Kirstin), Gig Harbor; Children, Autumn, Eli, Abigail; Niece, Susan Riley (Mark), Inver Grove Heights, MN.; Children, Mike, Katie, Megan; Niece, Karen Gerard (Paul) New Hampshire; Twins, Allison and Andrew, Champlin, MN. Niece Patty Bergum, Bloomington, MN. Children, David and Anna. Also many cousins and friends. Robert was preceded by his parents, Hans & Anna Bergum, Mother-in-law, Clarice Nelson, brothers, Vernon, Hany, and Orvin and nephew, John Bergum. A celebration of Robert’s life was held on Sat.
