Obituary of George A. Lane

George A. Lane "Shady" Born on May 17, 1932 in Spokane, WA and was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas C. Lane & Lola Lane Hodges. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, son Marty, daughter Cindy (Beau), son Terry (Linda), grandchildren Chandel, Kenny, Kayla, Kristina, Tegan, Skylier (Lisa), Summer, and 4 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Gail Marie Williams, and brother, John, and preceded in death by brothers Thomas C. and Talmadge "Bud". Shady joined the National Guard, and then moved onto the US Air Force 33rd Air Transport Squadron. He attended Tacoma Vocational Technical Institute for boat building and diesel mechanics, after which he went to work for Mansfield Boats, then for Hygrade Meats and finally retired from Overall Laundry Services in 1992. Shady loved to fish and camp with his family and friends, enjoying places like Big Bay, the Tilton River and had many fond memories at Ocean Shores. His other pastimes included crossword puzzles, golf, and a good road trip in the motor home. He will be deeply missed. Helen and her children would like to thank the staff of the ICU at Good Samaritan for their kindness and care-giving. There will be viewing Tuesday, May 16th from 4-8 pm at Funeral Alternatives of Washington, 1410 Main St., Sumner. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, May 17, 2006 at Tahoma National Cemetery, with memorial services to follow at Bethany Lutheran Church, 264th & Mtn. Hwy. E. in Spanaway.
