Obituary of William King

William (Bill) King III 2/27/1948 - 2/22/2009 Bill, age 60, was surrounded by family as he passed away peacefully at home after an eight month struggle with colon cancer. He was born in Monmouth, IL and was a resident of Spanaway for 32 years. He recently retired from nearly 40 years of service to his country through his time as an aircraft electrician in the United States Air Force, Air Force Reserves, and as a civil servant with the 62/446 MXS Accessories Flight at McChord AFB. Bill became dedicated to helping orphaned and underprivileged children in the Philippines through his frequent travels to Clark Air Base, near Manila, a passion he pursued on his own initiative after retirement to his final days. He was a generous and loving husband, father and grandfather survived by his wife Maryanne of 39 years. He is also survived by sons Andrew, Jacob and Michael; their wives Tracy, Denise and Christina; daughter Hannah; grandchildren Thurston, William, Lillian, Kelsie and Caley; sisters Barbara Barton and Brenda Wescott; stepmother Mary and many beloved in-laws, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by parents William and Agnes King and sister Beth. The family extends our thanks to Group Health, Group Health Hospice and Maxim Healthcare. Funeral services will be held at Holy Disciples Catholic Church in Puyallup, WA on Thursday, Feb. 26, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. followed by burial with full military honors at Tahoma National Cemetery.
