Obituary of Axel R. Sword

Axel R. “Ray” Sword was born May 24, 1932 in Chicago, Illinois and passed away January 11, 2009 in Federal Way, Washington. Ray was a Korean war Veteran and proudly served in the United States Air Force as an aircraft mechanic. After his service to our country, Ray met the love of his life in Chicago. Lena “Lee” Rubino and Ray were married on June 27, 1959 and have four children. One of Ray’s hobbies was flying radio controlled model airplanes and racing his boats. He was also a competitive body builder, and held several titles throughout his life. Ray and Lee had a home in Milton, WA. for several years, and Ray worked for Boeing as a maintenance mechanic. One of Ray’s greatest loves besides his wife Lee, was his love for the Ford Mustang. Ray built several cars and was successful in creating his street rods. He used to show them in the local car shows in Seattle, and it was rare that he wouldn‘t come home with a trophy. Ray and Lee would also attend “Rod Runs” every chance they could. He even had one of his Mustangs featured in Hot Rod Magazine. Ray is survived by his wife Lee, sons Raymond and Brian, daughters Laurie and Arlene, and grandchildren Brandon, Alicia, Madison, Sam, and Meridian. He will be missed!
