Obituary of Alan Fred Schakohl

Alan Fred Schakohl Al was born January 28, 1936 in Longview, WA and died December 1, 2008 in Tukwila, WA, after a sudden illness. Al moved to Puyallup, WA with his family in 1942 and attended Spinning Elementary school, graduated from Puyallup High school in 1954 and attended Seattle University. Al also served in the Army and Army Reserves and retired from St. Regis Paper Company in 1998. Al was preceded in death by his parents, William (Willie) and Ellen Schakohl. He is survived by his twin sister, Frances (Vernon) Meyer, of Graham, WA, Ruth (Dave) Crowell and Bette Porter, of Anchorage, AK. Al was a kind and generous man who would stop to help anyone stranded along the highway. Although Al never married or had children of his own, he spent many happy hours with his nieces and nephews on holidays and other family occasions. He would often fill in as a babysitter or chauffeur when the need arose. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2008 1:30 p.m. at All Saints Catholic Church, 204 6th Avenue SW in Puyallup, WA. Interment to follow at Woodbine Cemetery. Uncle Sonny, you will always be in our hearts.
