Obituary of James E. McDonald

Jim was born to James and Ester McDonald of Kapowsin on April 25, 1926. He was the eldest boy of 12 children, 10 boys and 2 girls. He lettered 4 years in baseball and three years in football. He graduated in 1944 from Kapowsin High School. Jim enlisted in the Marine Corp. at age 18. He was in the 1st Division Marines in W.W. II, served in the South Pacific. He worked in the logging business for most of his life but retired from Todd Shipyard as a machinist. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara, brothers, Donald, Tom, Barney, John and sister, Kathern. Jim leaves son, James (Chris and boys), daughter, Jeanette (Bob), brothers, Pat, Gene, Terry, Mike, Bill, sister, Martha, step-daughters, Patty, Shannon, Robin, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jim’s passion was Kapowsin history. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Cosmas and Damian Catholic Church in Orting at 10 a.m. Nov. 13. Following the luncheon there will be a graveside service at Tahoma National Cemetery at 2 p.m.. In lieu of flowers please donate to your favorite charity.
