Obituary of Richard Lyle German

Richard Lyle German died at his home in Buckley on Sunday, February 17th. He was 54 years old. He was born to Robert and Gloria German in Seattle on October 6th, 1953. He spent most of his childhood in Black Diamond and moved to Buckley when he was ten. He graduated from White River High School in 1972. He served in the US Navy from 1973 to 1978. Rick worked as a construction laborer most of his adult life, though recently he earned his commercial driver’s license and drove for Sutter Paving. He was a devoted and faithful family man. He married his wife, Alisa on August 10th, 1997 and happily welcomed her children, Theresa, Natalie, Tonya, Nathen and Shann, into his life. He was eager to help his family in every situation, whether it meant working on their cars, helping someone move, or caring for his grandkids while their parents were at work. He was equally at ease using the strength of his hands to fix something or his gentle touch to hold a sleeping baby. Rick had many hobbies and interests. He loved spending time in the outdoors – camping, fishing and taking long rides on his motorcycle. He also enjoyed working on old cars and on various projects around his house. He was a hard-working, fun-loving, and creative man. His smile and laughter will be remembered by all who knew him. Rick is survived by his wife, Alisa, of Buckley, his 3 step-daughters and 2 step-sons, 12 grandchildren, brother, Robert German Jr., of Buckley, 4 nieces, and 3 nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Sr., of Buckley, in 1996, his mother, Gloria, of Buckley, in 2001 and his sister, Toni Heddrick, of Bellingham, in 2007. Funeral arrangements were made by Curnow Funeral Home in Sumner, (253) 863-2800. A private memorial service has been held. Burial arrangements are pending.
