Obituary of Norma Geraldine Austin

Norma Geraldine Austin, a longtime resident of Puyallup, passed away November 29, 2012. Norma was born June 9, 1923 at the family home in Davenport, WA to William and Emma (Boleneus) Lueck. She was predeceased by her husband of 48 years, Harry J Austin, her parents and six brothers and sisters. Norma is survived and will be missed by her daughter Margaret Dovey (James), sons H James Austin (Kay), Richard Austin (Teresa), and Robert Austin (Pixie) Austin, grandchildren Elaine, Diana, Jennifer, Jon, Greg (April), Scott (Ashli), Sydney and Angela, three great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Norma was first and foremost a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who enjoyed attending family events and activities. She enjoyed her early travels with the trailer club and the friendships she and Harry made over the years. During the early 1970’s she went to work for the Puyallup School District and became affectionately known as the “Ice Cream Lady” at Kalles Junior High. She liked to crochet, knit, sew and do craft projects as well as collect rocks and frogs. Norma also liked to bowl, play bingo, bunco and was an avid sports fan. The past ten years she made her home at The Highlands in Puyallup where she was an active participant in clubhouse activities, playing cards and socializing with friends. At her request there will be no service. The family will host a celebration of her life at the Puyallup Activity Center, 210 West Pioneer, Puyallup, WA on Saturday, December 8 from 2:30 to 5:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the American Heart Association or the charity of your choice.
