Obituary of Judy Ann Churchill

Judy Ann Weippert Churchill's pain ended Wednesday evening, December 26th as she left this earth on her journey to Heaven. At her side was her husband Gus, sister Bonnie and nieces Leann and Brenda. Born Judy Ann Weippert in Pigeon, Michigan on April 4, 1947 to Margaret and Albert Weippert and was raised in Cass City, Michigan. Graduating High School in 1965, she left to work for the FBI in Washington DC. She left there in 1968 to wait for a boy friend in San Francisco where she met Gus. Judy was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 1985. By then she was already making inroads with her job at McDonnell Douglas Aircraft (MDC) in St Louis. By 1987 she had completed 17 years of night school to get her BS in Computer Science from St Louis University and an MBA from Lindenwood College in 1989. During this time, she was moving up the ranks at MDC and never missing a beat as she battled cancer. She continued her career there gaining accolades from both management and peers alike. She was recommended for a management position at Boeing in 1998 and since that time moved up in management to a Director level position, at times managing up to 65 people. While making inroads at Boeing, she was again stricken with breast cancer in 2001, and then ovarian cancer in 2002. She celebrated 30 years at MDC/Boeing in June 2007. She was most proud that she was liked and respected by those for whom she was responsible. She managed people as a leader and mentor. Judy was always there for them and they came first. She had skills that management relied upon and never shirked her duties to the company. She was always a winner and a team player. Closer to home, Judy was a whiz in the kitchen and loved to cook and entertain. She was working on a Holiday Cookbook to raise money for Ovarian Cancer Research. Judy loved to golf and was able to travel the USA to golf, which included a day at the Masters in Augusta, Georgia. Most importantly she was loved by all who knew her with her great smile and easy going ways. The world was a better place with her presence. Judy and Gus were lovingly married for nearly 38 years. They worked together, shared in travel and friends, and cared for each other in sickness and in health. As a team they had a passion for life. Judy was active in the community and was loved by all whom ever met her, as she never wronged anyone. Judy is survived by her husband Gus, cat Trinity, sisters Bonnie Brandenburg of Midland, Michigan, Linda Kent of San Francisco, California and Donna Schneider of Clarkston, Michigan. She is preceded in death by her parents and eldest sister Carol Jean Martin of Cass City, Michigan, as well as many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her Aunt Emillia who will turn 104 in May. Judy and Gus have asked that donations be made to the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center for Ovarian Cancer, 1100 Fairview Ave N, Seattle WA 98109. God Bless you all that have supported the family these many years. Viewing will be held Friday 12/28 from 4-8pm at Curnow Funeral Home, 1410 Main St., Sumner, (253) 863-2800 followed by a Funeral Service Saturday 12/29 at 11 am at Calvary Community Church 15116 Gary Street East, Sumner.
