Obituary of Harold Carlson

Harold “Strawberry” Carlson, born April 25, 1911 in Edgewood passed away Dec. 16, 2007 in Puyallup. He was a lifelong resident of Edgewood and was a retired longshoreman where he was a member of ILWU Local #23. Harold married Althea Turner in Edgewood on February 21, 1941. She preceded him in death in 2004. They enjoyed traveling together and wintering in Yuma, AZ. Harold enjoyed his garden and metal detecting. He was also preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister. Survived by his son, Richard L. Carlson, Edgewood; daughters, Beverly A. Foos, Puyallup, Shirley M. Butts, Edgewood; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. A viewing will be held Thursday Dec. 20, from 4-8 p.m. at Curnow Funeral Home, 1410 Main St. Sumner. A funeral will be held on Thursday Dec. 27, 1 p.m. at the Sumner United Methodist Church, 901 Wood Ave. Interment to follow at Woodbine Cemetery.
