Obituary of Richard Marcott Tervol

Born in Detroit MI September 15, 1934 And went home to be with his Lord October 3, 2012 in Puyallup, WA. He volunteered for the Army in 1951 returning to MI in 1954 & graduating from Reading High School where he met and married Ruth Lowe Tervol in 1956. He attended Hillsdale College while working for the automotive industry. In 1961 He moved with his family to Washington State where he worked for The Boeing Co. for 30 years in both WA and OR. He had many interests during his lifetime. For 20 years he was involved in politics in the town of Milton, WA where he served on the boundary review board and as Councilman and Mayor. He enjoyed his family and traveling visited all 50 states and most of Europe, Asia and Africa. He was an avid hiker and hiked the entire Wonderland Trail around Mt. Rainier as well as many other trails. He also promoted running and ran four 26 mile marathons as well as many many 6 K’s & 10 K’s. He was very fond of Fishing and is a member of the over 50# club in Alaska. He was a member of the Maintenance Team at his church and enjoyed working with the “guys” who were always on call for leaky toilets. He played cards at the Senior center once a week and talked about their hands the rest of the week. Once a month he met with friends from his days in Milton politics for breakfast, but they never talked politics. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Ruth, daughter Rebecca(Dean)Krebs, sons Ronald(Jewel)Tervol and Richard Matthew Tervol, plus 2 granddaughters Ryann Tervol and Rainee Tervol. Military service will be held on October 12, 2012 at 10:30 AM at Mt Tahoma National Cemetary 18600 SE 240th ST, KENT, WA. , AND A celebration of his life will be held Sat. October 13, 2012 at 3PM in the Puyallup United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers Please send Donations to PUMC Memorial Fund at 1919 W. Pioneer in Puyallup, WA 98371.
