Obituary of Thomas Lee Wright

Thomas Lee Wright was born August 31, 1953 at Tacoma General Hospital of Tacoma, Washington to parents Colleen and Darrel Wright. He was the oldest of three, with siblings Rick and Lynn. With hard work, he was able to earn the Eagle Scout award of the Boy Scout program in his youth. Later, he committed two years of his life, 1974-1976, to serve as a full-time missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Florida South mission. Upon his return, he enrolled and studied at Brigham Young University from 1976 to 1978. While being a student, he was employed by BYU Press, beginning his career in the printing press industry. Tom married Diane Vicky Nilsen on November 18, 1977. Together they raised five children: Amy, Tiffany, Justin, Michelle and Travis. December 15, 2000, Thomas married his new love, Diane Belle Sowers. Tom received a diagnosis of prostate cancer in 2011. He passed away at home in Tacoma, Washington, under the loving care of his wife. Tom had many passions and always had a good story to tell. He loved photography and taking pictures for others. The Fourth of July was a time to put on a grand show and embrace the rush of the fireworks. He never missed the Puyallup Fair, believing it be one of the greatest events of the year. He was always up to try new foods, but enjoyed his tried-and-true favorite: his own hand-tossed pizza. If there was someone in need, Tom would volunteer to help without hesitation. He was fun to be around and will be truly missed. Tom Wright is survived by parents Colleen and Darrell Wright, siblings Rick Wright and Lynn Tiegs, spouse Diane Belle Wright, children: Amy Locke, Tiffany Lewandowsky, Justin Wright, Michelle Wright, Travis Wright, and step-daughter Dawn Ross and 13 grandchildren: Joshua, Kiana, Skyland, Ryker, Alyna, Ethan, Brianna, Claire, Victoria, Isabella, Justin, Kaylee, and Lindsey.
