Obituary of Michael J. Johnson

Mike Johnson was born on Oct. 30, 1959 in Renton WA to Roger and Carol Johnson and died Feb. 29, 2012. Mikey began his education at Dieringer School and then eventually went on to Sumner High as well as Green River Community college where he received an AA degree. Mike spent the majority of his life working side by side with his father at Johnson’s Chevron in Sumner, where he was a valued and respected member of the community. Mike was a member of the E. Clampus Vitas (Clampers) where he was lovingly given the nickname “Barcode”, as well as being a member of the Wilkeson Eagles, where he met many new friends and had enjoyable times. Mike is survived by his parents, sisters Karen Van Wieringen(Doug), Kim Cornely (Brian), brother Mark (Sandy), stepchildren Shawna Sawin and Eric Harris, as well as nieces Kasee, Haley, Lexie and Katie, nephew Jeremy as well as uncle, aunts and cousins. The family would especially like to express their gratitude to the Puyallup Special Services and Suzan Zachary, Hospice , Good Samaritan Hospital , Mike and Joy Downing and the numerous friends that stopped by to offer friendship, assistance and encouragement during this time. A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday March 17 at St. Andrew Catholic Church, Sumner. The Johnson family would like to invite you to join them in a celebration of life gathering following the service at the old Dieringer School (Peterson Bros.) on E. Valley Hwy.
