I did not get a chance to read this at Jeanne's funeral because the time was cut short so suddenly. So, I want to share what I would have said here.
I have known Jeanne since 1985 when I started the PhD program in Nursing at the UW. Jeanne had been one of the instrumental founders of the doctoral program in nursing, along with others. I read a lot of Jeanne's work in the literature before coming to UW, when she published under the name Jeanne Quint, without the Benoliel. After...

When we heard of Jeanne's passing, the thought that came to my mind was of the time that Jeanne received her doctor of nursing degree. The stage of the theater was far to the front of us, and Aunt Marie [Jeanne's mother]rose from her seat, a lone figure in the midst of a seated multitude, raised her hands above her head and applauded.
I've wondered since if Jeanne happened to be looking, and saw her mother at that Instant.

To Jeanne's family - thank you for sharing her with me and so many of her students - I know my career was shaped by her guidance. She taught me to question, which I in turn have tried to teach to others. She taught me to honor the passage of life, which I in turn have taught to others. Her gift was not just for my practice, but for the many who I shared her wisdom. My favorite Jeanne story involved me turning in my Master of Nursing thesis. I collected data for a larger study (from else...

Cousin Jeanne, my grandmother's dear cousin, has been an incredible inspiration to us. Jeanne was such a strong role model for my mother who went on to pursue her graduate degree. This, in turn, inspired me to do the same. Jeanne was dedicated to helping people through life's biggest transition-- her strength and guidance helped all that she touched, directly as well as indirectly.
Jeanne, we all thank you from the bottom of our hearts. With gratitude, the deepest respect,...

I have very fond memories from staying with my Aunt Jeanne and Uncle Bob in Fall City. For weeks at a time during the summer they welcomed me and I still have vivid memories of their home and grounds. I observed them to have a wonderful relationship and I appreciated how much they cared for each other. I was a young teenager; yet my Aunt Jeanne would challenge me with open conversations and she allowed me to see the world in a more adult way. I remember that she always drove Volvo's;...
