Obituary of Joseph Davis

Joseph Davis was born September 5, 1935 and passed away Tuesday, October 25, 2011 in Tacoma. He passed away very suddenly from bone cancer, which had only been diagnosed on Friday, October 7, 2011. Joe and his family moved from Richmond, Indiana to Port Angeles Washington in 1947, where he spent endless hours commercial fishing with his father, and found his love of the open sea and boating. He lived his life with boundless energy and a free spirit of adventure. He loved the outdoors, be it hunting or riding his motorcycle cross country. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him, especially for his great story-telling, jokes, and for his passion for business abilities within his community. Joe was a State Farm Insurance Agent for 40 years in Fife. He was a member of the Fox Island Yacht Club, and a charter member of both Fife-Milton Rotary Club and the Gig Harbor Mid-Day Rotary Club. Joe is survived by his wife Carol, daughter Gretchen Davis, twin granddaughters Samantha and Alexandria, step-daughter Michelle Brehm, grandchildren Mariah and Hayden Nielsen, sister Dolores (Ken) Callahan, sister-in-law Lynn Davis, and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, November 3, 2011 at 1:00pm at the Sumner United Methodist Church, 901 Wood Ave. A reception with food will follow the service.
