Obituary of Mckala Copeland

Mckala Copeland was born on October 24, 1973 to Cecilia Copeland and Tony Black in Fairfield, California. Mckala as a child was very quick-witted and bright. She grew up around all of her boy cousins so she was tough. She would always find some way to get out of trouble while her cousins were not so fortunate. Mckala loved to read, even before she started school. In elementary her teachers wouldn’t believe she had read some of the things she had until she was asked to tell about the book and she would leave them speechless. As a teenager she was known to many, sometimes for trouble but mostly for her big heart. At the age of 17 she moved to Alabama and had first child, Chyna. Soon after Alex, CJ, and Sydnee joined her brood. Soon after Sydnee was born she brought her precious family to Washington State, where they established themselves in the lovely city of Redmond. Mckala was well known and loved by many because of her kindness and willingness to help. She always made people feel welcomed and loved no matter what she was going through. Mckala had a rough time with Asthma her entire life and was constantly in and out of hospitals but it never broke her spirit and will to live. Mckala was called home on Sunday September 18, 2011. She is missed but always remembered. Her legacy lives on in her children. A funeral service will be held on Friday Sept. 23, 11:30 a.m. at the Redmond Stake Center of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Interment will follow at the Woodinville Cemetery.
