David Leon Dec 1, 1939 Sept 1, 2011 David Leon, 71, died peacefully, surrounded by family at his home on September 1, 2011 after a 4-year battle with ALS. David moved from Arizona to Tacoma on April 1, 1967 when he became the assistant pro at Brookdale Golf Club. He later was the head pro at Linden Golf Club for 38 years. Dave was born in Tucson, Arizona and practically grew up on a golf course. He started to play at the age of 9. While at Tucson High he played on a golf team that established a record 56 consecutive wins. Dave was runner up in the National Jr. Amateur Championship in a field that included Jack Nicklaus. He also won the Arizona Medal Play Championship, the Strategic Air Command title for two years and for three years was 15th Air Force Champion. Among other wins was a first place finish in the Pacific Northwest PGA Assistant's Tournament. David and wife Susan were together for 55 years, married for 48. He had three children Anthony, Patricia, and Catherine, and two grandchildren Michael David, and Gabrielle Grace, and many nieces, and nephews. David is also survived by his sisters Stella, Cecilia, Katie, and Leonre, and brothers Jesus, Leo, and Rudy. A mass will be celebrated Thursday Oct 6th at 11:00 am at St. Frances Cabrini church, 5505 108th Street SW, Lakewood. A reception will follow, at 1:00 pm at Linden Golf & Country Club, 2519 East Main, Puyallup.
