Obituary of William Peter Allen

William Peter Allen Age 21, beloved son, brother and friend, died Sept. 5 while hiking with friends in the Cascade mountains. Peter was born August 10, 1990. He graduated from Emerald Ridge High School in Puyallup, and was entering his junior year at the University of Washington, preparing to pursue a career in pharmacology. A true academic, Peter was an honor student in high school and college. He was a gifted athlete, playing football and basketball in high school and rowing with the UW crew team in college. Peter loved everything - his family, his friends, his church, running, crew team, hiking and playing piano. Pete was an example of excellence and exemplary character to all who knew and loved him, and an incredible source of joy to family and friends. In the words of his mother, "He was such a good, sweet angel boy. We love him so much." Peter became involved with his campus church during his adult life, re-committing his life to Christ and leading others to do the same. He was involved in Bible study, mentoring, and baptism of new Christians. The gifts he gave and the lives he touched while doing this work will continue to be a comfort and blessing to his family and friends. Peter is survived by his parents, Mike and Gretchen Allen of Puyallup, and his three younger brothers, John, Paul, and Luke, his grandparents Ron and Sharon Finholm of Gig Harbor, and Bill and Jackie Allen of Spokane, and an extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins. A private interment will take place at Haven of Rest Cemetery, Gig Harbor. A celebration of Peter's life will be held at 11:00 Saturday, Sept. 10, 2011 at Bethany Baptist Church, 713 South Hill Park Dr., Puyallup. Remembrances may be made to The Campus Ministry: Seattle Church of Christ, 2555 8th Ave W., Seattle, WA 98199. Donations may be made at any Columbia Bank to the Peter Allen Family Fund.
