Obituary of Judith LaVon Peters

Judith Bargman Peters entered into God’s loving arms on August 18, 2011, following an eight-month battle with cancer. Her caring and devoted family surrounded her until the end. Judy was born on October 31, 1932, in Ludell, Kansas, to Herbert and Agnes Bargman. The family moved to Seattle when Judy was two years old, where she attended school and graduated from West Seattle High School in 1950. There she met the love of her life and her best friend, Bill Peters. She attended Pacific Lutheran College. Judy and Bill were married May 23, 1953, beginning their life together in Seattle and then moving to Normandy Park in 1959. They raised three children: Doug, Lynn, and Lori. In 1977, they fell in love with Sun Valley, Idaho, and established a second home, enjoying skiing, jazz festivals, hiking, and friends. Later, they retired to Hood Canal. Wherever Judy and Bill went, they created life-long friendships. Judy is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Bill; son, Doug (Julie) Peters and children Kelcey and Bryce; daughter, Lynn (Ken) Kase and children Jesse (Rhonda) and Korey; and daughter, Lori (Dan) Howard and children Linnea and Cameron. The greatest joy in their lives was supporting and encouraging the adventures and activities of their children and grandchildren. Everyone benefited from Judy’s many creative talents, including sewing, cross-stitching, photography, home decorating, flower arranging, and serving as a personal designer and shopper for many. She loved making personalized gifts for family and friends. Judy was a bright and shining light in so many lives with her vibrant spirit and zest for life. She never knew a stranger, welcoming everyone and making each person feel special and important. Judy will be deeply missed and loved forever. A Celebration of Judy’s Life will be held on Sunday, September 11th at the Harmony Hill Retreat Center on Hood Canal at 11:00 AM.
