Obituary of Nancy Ann Rose

Nancy Ann Rose 12/10/1931 -6/24/2011 of University Place, WA, passed away June 24, 2011 at the age of 79 surrounded by many she loved. Nancy was born December 10, 1931 to Grafton and Verna Smith in Edmonds, WA. She was the oldest of 5 girls. Nancy attended Western Washington University where she earned a degree in Nursing. It was after this that she married the love of her life, Theodore Rose on December 12, 1952. Together they raised 8 children, traveling the world as a military family. Nancy's capacity of love was boundless. After all the children had started school, Nancy returned to school herself at the University of Washington. There she obtained her Pediatric Nurse Practitioner License and worked many years with Dr. Ovidio Penalver retiring in 1995. Nancy will be known for her love & compassion she showed to others and for the beauty she brought to the world. Her talents and hobbies include reading, gardening, sewing, baking, and visits to the ocean, cruising, and spending time with her grandchildren and great- grandchildren. She never hesitated to provide a shoulder for support or a sympathetic ear when needed. Nancy's left behind an enormous legacy of love and kindness that will be passed on for many generations. She is missed and mourned by all whose lives she touched. Nancy is preceded in death by her parents Grafton and Verna Smith, her husband, Ted, son, Michael, and Sisters Doreen O'Day and Emily Croy. Nancy is survived by her children, Leslie Ann (David), Peggy, Tim, Allen (Rena),Jeff (Tracy), Katie (Larry), Elizabeth (Bernard), 17 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, sisters, Dale Pastrana of El Paso, TX and Lynn Mock (Jim) of Marysville, WA., Harold Croy (Brother in Law) along with numerous nieces and nephews. A celebration of Nancy's life will be held at 1:00pm on Friday, July 1, 2011 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in the Unity Chapel with Internment to follow at Calvary Cemetery. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Catholic Community Services and Franciscan Hospice for there care and support to Nancy and family in the last months of her life.
