Obituary of Beverly Fern Devers

Beverly Fern Devers passed away February 23, 2024 in Tacoma, Washington at the age of 88 years. Beverly was born August 30, 1935 in Tacoma, Washington. She was a graduate of Puyallup High School, class of 1953 where she excelled in poetry and writing, making numerous contributions to the school newspaper. Bev was an avid reader, gardener, and lover of the outdoors, enjoying hiking and camping at the ocean and the mountains. She enjoyed her time “at the lake” where many weekends, summers and years were spent enjoying her family. Bev was also extremely involved with the Puyallup School District for years as; a playground supervisor for Maplewood Elementary, kitchen staffer at Maplewood and Fruitland Elementary schools, and later Aylen Junior High School. She was eventually a nutrition specialist at Aylen Junior High School for the Puyallup School District. Bev received the Golden Acorn Award from the PTA in 1966 for her devoted service and personal contributions to Maplewood Elementary school. During her lifetime, Bev lived in Washington, Illinois, and Arizona. Bev was best known as; Bev, Mom, Grandma, Aunt Bev, and Sis. Ask any niece, nephew, grand or great grandchild and they will tell you… she was also known for her baking skills!

Beverly is survived by her;

Children, Doug Devers of Palm Coast, FL; Lynn and husband Bill Scheid of Ocean Shores, WA; and Candi and husband Rollie Westover of Chandler, AZ.

Grandchildren, Chris (Kim) Devers, Randi Devers, Danaka (Brandon) Trudell, Ben (Nilsa) Devers. Tyler (Sabrina) Scheid, Thomas (Piper) Scheid, Tanner (Sarah) Scheid. Joe Roslie, and Ali (Blake) Irving. In addition to 17 Great Grandchildren.

Surviving siblings include, Tonie, Dorothy, Mary, Gary, Jerry, and Teresa.

Beverly is preceded in death by her;

Parents, Roma Waughtel and Isal Wilcox. Husband Jerry Devers. Son Rich Devers. Daughter in law Sue Devers. Siblings Bob, Johnny, Arthur (Bob), Jim, Chuck, and Sharon.

Bev also leaves behind several nieces and nephews, friends of the family, and neighbors which dearly adored her and loved her, all of which were an important part of her life.

Private family services will be held separately. A Celebration of Life and remembrance gathering for all friends and family members will be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to support St Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
