Obituary of Robert Howard Pine

Robert Howard Pine, age 73, of Puyallup, Washington, passed away on February 16, 2024. He was born on June 26, 1950, in Raymond Grays Harbor, Washington. Robert served in the Army from 1968 to 1971, with deployment in Vietnam before being stationed at Fort Bragg, NC for early release to work for seasonal employment.

Robert attended Columbia River High School in Vancouver, WA. After serving in the military, he began his career at Alcoa in Vancouver for 5 years before transitioning to a career in telephone communications. He worked for US Qwest from 1979 until his retirement in 2008. Robert later worked for Boss Communications, White River School District as a bus driver, and Pierce County Transportations before fully retiring in 2012.

He was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Robert had a passion for music, singing, fishing, the outdoors, and crafting knives with his brother, Mike Pine. He enjoyed hobbies such as fishing, hunting, baseball, football, and woodworking.

Robert is survived by his wife, April Marie Pine, his four sons: Robert Theodore Pine 2nd (Becky), Keven Richard Pine (Shiree), Derek Andrew Pine (Karen), Jared Samuel Pine (Becky), 23 grandchildren, and 1 great-granddaughter. He is also survived by his brother, Mike Lee Pine (Debbie), and sister, Autumn Alta Rigot. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Theodore Pine 1st and Emma Hazel Pine, brothers David Glen Pine, Steven Lloyd Pine, and grandson Jett Teancum Pine.

A military honors burial will take place at Sumner Cemetery on March 2, 2024, at 11 am, followed by a memorial service at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Sumner at 2 pm. Contributions in Robert's memory can be made to Wounded Warriors. The funeral home assisting with arrangements is Curnow & Hill Funeral Home located at 1504 Main St, Sumner, WA 98390.
