Obituary of John Leroy Walts

John L Walts passed away Easter Sunday, April 9, 2023 after a brief illness.

John was born March 1939 to Roy A Walts and Irene Vanderpool Walts.

He was born in Tacoma, Washington and started his life and love there.

He attended Washington grade school, Mason Jr High school and graduated from Bellarmine Preparatory High school. While studying in high school, he gained a love of theJesuits and what they stood for. A significant event happened when attending one of the dances there, he met hisfuture wife, Carolyn Rose. They dated 4 years and married on October 8, 1960. They were married for 62 years. Together they had 3 children, Melissa, Carol Ann and Christine.

They traveled the world together as John joined the Air Force after high school and became a decorated pilot. He retired from the Air force after 20 years of service, he was a great example of love for country and family. He was always studying and learning, while in the service he earned both

Bachelor and Masters degrees. After retiring from the military, he worked for US West and wrote code for several programs.

Grandchildren entered his life, in order, Nicolle, Brittany, Foster, Giulia, Dakota, Anthony, Brennan and Winter. Great grand children also were a part of his life, Everett, Carreau and Maverick.

He loved to fly, travel, ski and play racquetball. It was important to him to stay active and he enjoyed running and lifting weights. In recent years he and Carolyn would cruise the seas and continued to see the world.

He loved his friends, and stayed in touch with many of them at least on their birthdays. No one was a stranger to him, he could and would make friends wherever he went.

He had a wicked sense of humor and would trick us kids and joke with many of his friends. He would reminisce of old times and let us know little bits of his experience in war. He taught us to be kind and not to be prejudice, to love others. He was generous, loyal and protective. He loved animals and saved many wounded or lost.

He was a devoted husband and loved no one more than his wife, Carolyn.

He will be missed by both family and friends. We love you, until we meet again.

A celebration of life will be held during July 2023, as he loved the summer. Please contact the family for details.
