Cory Barker

Obituary of Cory Thomas Barker

Cory “Rooster” Thomas Barker (3.13.1977-9.6.2022)

Cory “Rooster” Barker was born March 13, 1977 to Deborah Ann Barker, in Bethesda, MD.

Rooster had a moto for life: “Live, Love, Life.” He meant it. Every moment of every single day, he worked hard to help people, see people, and care for people – right where they were at. Everyone he came in contact with became an instant member of his family. He loved deeply and whole-heartedly. He was passionate about helping people, making people laugh with his practical jokes, and always showing up right when you needed him.

Rooster was predeceased by his beloved mother. He adored her and her commitment to him and his sister. Rooster was loyal through and through. He was a survivor, he fought hard for himself and for others, and always wanted to make sure no one suffered like he did.

Rooster loved motorcycles, especially his Harley, which he spent a lot of time working on. He would ride every moment he could and having the wind in his hair gave him a sense of freedom. Snowboarding, skateboarding, and boating were some of his other passions. He was a hard worker and always was willing to volunteer his time to help another.

The biggest dream of his life came true in July 2022, with the birth of his daughter. Rooster had longed to be a father and be the best father he could be. He did just that. His time with his little one was cut way too short, but he made the most of each and every moment they had together.

Rooster (Cory) is survived by his daughter, Oakley Lane and his sister Pennie Beth.
