Obituary of Patricia Reynolds

On March 11th, 2022, Patricia Mary Eva Buchanan Hertz Reynolds slipped from her Earth-bound existence to gain her wings.

Born May 13th, 1942 in Jacksonville Illinois to Ralph Franklin Buchanan and Ruby Laura Alft. The third of six children; Ralph Franklin Buchanan II, Herbert Lee Buchanan, Clarence Joseph Buchanan, Arthur William Spradlin and Susan Lynn Troutner.

Orphaned young and separated from her siblings at an early age, she had a tragic childhood that remained with her always. She fell in love young and at nineteen married Anton Michael Hertz. Together they welcomed five children: Letha Lynn Hertz, Robert Michael Hertz, Laura Elizabeth Hertz, Patricia Gail Hertz, and Antonette Hertz. With open arms and a welcoming heart she also gathered several self-proclaimed adopted children in her lifetime, and loved us all in equal measure.

Her legacy includes twelve grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. The grand babies in the family were always most important to her, and she cultivated them like a beautiful garden.

She was a Midwest farm girl at heart who loved nature and working the land, be it with animal or crop. She had a will of steel and a playful nature, finding enjoyment in dancing, laughing, camping, hunting, fishing, spending time with her family and passing along her knowledge of healing plants and sustainability. She always found solace with her hands in the soil, bringing life from it.

The Matriarch of our family may have slipped from us but she will forever be reunited with all of her loved ones that preceded her. The rest of us are left to say, as she would; “Turn the page, and carry on!” She would always turn an invisible page as she said it.

We belong to you, and you belong to us. Rest in Peace Momma.
