I'm deeply saddened by learning of Gary's death. Dear family may your wonderful memories heal your heart. Gary and I worked together at Stahl with medically fragile kids. It was tough work, but Gary took the extra step to make it fun times. I considered Gary my "guy" friend who enjoyed talking about sports, family & students. Honesty, Gary showed respect and interest for everyone. Adie and I loved doing pranks on him, and he would always respond ' man that was ingenious.' So if surfer boy or coffee cup went missing we were behind the prank. We firmly disagreed about WSU being the better team, obviously UW. So glad Adie, Kimmy K and I saw you a few months ago. Now dear friend it is your turn to walk the streets of gold, and enjoy your heavenly home.

Gary’s combination of expertise, patience, and determination positively affected and inspired countless students at ERHS. His smile and laugh were infectious, and his generosity with his talents and time were legendary. The effects of his teaching, coaching, and mentoring continue to pour out in good ways through the many lives his work impacted.

Gary was an amazing friend and challenged me to be the best me. I first met Gary on the volleyball court and our families camped and raised our children together. When Gary decided to go into teaching, I mentored he and his buddy. Gary loved being a dad and was so proud of Heidi and Kyler. I am glad Gary is in no more pain and will continue to cheer on the WSU Cougars! Rest In Peace my friend.

Gary believed in me when it felt like no one else did. He was stern, yet loving and fatherly. Being in his Advisory from 08-11' was pivotal to many of the choices I made as an adult. I am truly saddened for his wife, children, and family. He loves them dearly and talked highly of them.
Such a blessing to thousands of lives.

Gary knew every student at ERHS by name. On his planning period he would come into the library to see if I had seen a missing student. Together we were able to get a lot of stray students back to where they belonged. He was strict, but always kind. He made me laugh a lot, an essential for teaching high school. He will be missed by many.

I will always remember our times playing volleyball through the Puyallup School District Win Activities. I will always remember how I learned to set for you so you could slam the volleyball to the opponents side.
I took pride in being the best setter for you Guermo! Rest In Peace! You will be missed!
